First of all, there is no way that this little move by Rooney (Eng.) was accidental..."Oooh I stumbled and he just HAPPENED to be under my foot". Yeah, nice try Brit boy. Not bloody likely. Granted, Ronaldo's little wink to his team's bench after Rooney got the red card was not so sportsmanlike either. However, these guys wear cleats for pete's sake and unlike a lot of other professional athletic supporters if you get my drift. Let's just hope that Carvalho already has children or doesn't want any in the future. I'd say the chances of him having any now are slim. Way to go Rooney you knob.

Anyways, on to the good stuff. Today is the 2nd semi-final game in the 2006 World Cup. And I've decided I'm cheering for Portugal. I just can't bring myself to cheer for France despite the fact that they beat Brazil (sorry Kelly). So I'll be sitting in a darkened cool office this afternoon watching...I mean working, yeah that's it, working...while the game is on. I honestly did very little yesterday during the Germany/Italy game. Which, I might add, I predicted correctly!!! Look at me go! I kick butt. Figo (Portugal) is mighty yummy despite being a bit on the hairy side. Would you call him swarthy?

Thank goodness the final game is on Sunday. It'll be a day of laundry and futbol for me. Perhaps some snacks. Who knows. I don't enjoy watching the English Premier League very much on television (Sportsnet? TSN?). It just doesn't have the same exhilirating effect that international soccer has. When the season starts up again, I hope they end up showing more of the European matches.

This has been a pretty slack week, even for me! Yesterday I went for an early lunch with Tara, one of my coworkers (who by the way wants to introduce me to one of her sports crazed single friends) and then got back to work late but then spent most of the rest of the afternoon watching the match. Today, I'm having an early lunch with the girls from the old workplace just up the hill and then back in time to "get some work done" (ie: watch the match). Considering it's a short work week, you'd think I could bring myself to do a bit more.

Apparently both Kelly (a coworker) and I let out really loud screams when Italy scored their first goal. So loud in fact that the rest of the office came over to see what the heck had happened. Just a wee bit embarassing. However, it wasn't quite as bad as my run around the office screaming "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL" with my arms thrown up in the air that I did on Friday during the Germany/Argentina game (I think?). Now that drew more than a few stares and odd looks from my coworkers. Thank god there's only about 12 of us in our area!!!

I'll write up a post-game report tonight along with any new hockey trades/signings involving the Oilers.
