5 Weird Things - I've been Tagged

Wednesday, August 09, 2006
I’ve apparently been “tagged” by Krista over at “Is this it”. I think this is my first one. Yay! No longer a tag virgin! From the sounds of it, I’m supposed to list five weird things about myself. This shouldn’t be too hard, right? If I have any trouble, I’m sure my dear brother could add a few of his own little anecdotes about me! Here goes:

1. I’m a champion bowler. That’s right. Me. In 1985, I was the Youth Bowling Council (YBC) Bantam Girls 5-Pin Provincial Champion for New Brunswick. Oh yeah baby! I got to go to the Nationals that year in Burnaby where I placed 8th in the country. Not too shabby for a 12 year old.

2. All my major injuries have been to my head. According to my brother, this explains a whole lot about me. Let’s examine them shall we? (1) my best friend at the time, Anne, whacked me in the head with a golf club (5 stitches) and no, it was not on purpose. It was actually my fault for standing in front of her as she was swinging. In my defense, I was blinded by the glittery wand she let me play with in exchange for using my dad’s clubs – I was 6; (2) while playing a game of “What Time is it Mr. Wolf” (I was 8), I tripped on the picks of my skates and slid ½ the length of the ice on my chin – three stitches; and (3) a baseball to the face – I broke my nose clean across the bridge. It was the first practice with our new baby-blue and white uniforms. I bent down to get a grounder (I played left field) when the ball hit a rock and decided it preferred flying to rolling and was only stopped from launching into the stratosphere by connecting with my face.

3. I have a dimple right at the top of my ass-crack. It’s always struck me as bizarre. It’s not like a regular dimple in your cheeks (either kind) where your skin pinches in when you smile. It’s like the bone (cause there’s not a lot of flesh right there!) has a hole in it. Perhaps it’s just me because I can’t get a good look at it but it feels really weird. And no, I don’t spend hours feeling my butt.

4. My favourite flavour of ice cream is Vanilla. You can pretty much bet money on the fact that if I go into a Baskin Robbins or Marble Slab Creamery, I’ll order Vanilla. Some might say I’m not adventurous. Not true. I just really like the purity of the vanilla.

5. I have a stuffed rabbit named Mr. Buns. Thanks to Jody for reminding me about this one. I slept with this guy, not because I “had to” but because I wanted to, at various times even during my university days. No, I’m not a sissy or anything else you might want to call me. It was just one of those things that was constant throughout my life. No matter what happened, that yellow and white stuffed rabbit was always there. He never talked back, never disappointed and his worn, green-paint stained (I don’t know how that happened) fur was soft and comforting. I cried into during my parent’s divorce, I beat it up (and then cried into again) when I got stressed about exams, and what did it do in return? Nothing except provided a soothing snuggle when I had trouble sleeping or just needed a “hug” (although, yes, I KNOW that it couldn’t hug me back). Mr. Buns now stays in the wooden chest my dad had made for me. He hasn’t been out for a while. I want to be cremated with that bunny. Perhaps if I do the Mongol Rally with my coworker, G-man, I’ll take Mr. Buns along with me…

Ok, there you go, I’m officially weird. Guess I now have to tag a few other people… Hmmm, let’s see. Well, definitely Great White Bear and Wandering Coyote. And I’ll also tag Heather over at Lectio, she’s a pretty cool C-town chick who I think might just have a couple of very interesting weird things of her own! And of course, anyone else who wants to can consider themselves tagged.

Hi I really enjoyed reading this tag. some people don't like the tags online, but I really enjoy them...especially if it's a topic that makes me think.

I am following the links on wandering Coyotes blog as we are doing an experiment "20 comments" and she led me here. We wonder if we can stir up traffic and make new friends and blogging even more dynamic.Going to look around for a bit and I think I recognize you from Great White Bear too.
Nice to "meet" you
