Free DVD

I got a lovely surprise at work today. One of my coworkers LOVES microwave popcorn. She has a bag of Orville Reden-whatever his name is just about every day. Well, this morning, she whipped over to my desk and presented me with a DVD which came in the package (box?) of popcorn. On it were 5 episodes of “popular” dramatic television shows. I was stunned. Now, before you get too excited (and I know you are), two of the “popular” shows were…Murder She Wrote … and … the Rockford Files.

When she read off the names of these two programs, I was less than excited. Then she got to the remaining episodes. The third show is an episode of House from season 1. I’m not a big fan of the medical drama so I wasn’t over the moon but this held promise. If they’re including something as recent as House, there was bound to be something I might enjoy. I was not to be disappointed. The fourth is an episode (I think the first one) from season 3 of the original Law and Order. I haven’t watched the whole thing yet (I AM at work you know!), but it looks like it’s the one where Lenny Briscoe first appears.

And then came the big finale! I was awash with anticipation, white with worry, and flush with desire at what might be included. It seemed as though time stood still while my coworker read each syllable with what had to be slower than slug speed. Life had gone into slow motion…. If I could have gotten away with it and not been fired (or committed) I would have leapt across my desk, wrestled her to the ground, pummeling her with the Halloween size bags of Hawkins Cheezies which mysteriously appeared on my desk, and ripped the DVD from her butter soaked hands.

And then suddenly, there was no need. She spoke. The words were beautiful. Musical. Magical. Mystical. Angels came down from heaven (if you believe in that sort of thing) and lifted here into the air on a puffy white cloud as she uttered the last word of the title….surely there is a god for he loves me. Rather than whip on a bikini and wrestle my coworker in a vat in cream corn for the possession of this sacred DVD, I wanted to build a statue in her honor and worship it with all the glory and grandeur that is due to such a wondrous woman. What was the title which inspired me so? The greatest of all great crime dramas. Law and Order: Criminal Intent. Vincent D’Onofrio is “smart sexy”…a term I lovingly borrow from Wandering Coyote (although she used it to describe CSI’s Grissom – a description I must agree with). Damn. Even in Full Metal Jacket he was drool worthy.

Cheezies are the best! Nothing says I've enjoyed a snack like having your upper palate ripped to shreds with cheddar flavoured crunchy things.

I would have been totally chuffed about the Rockford Files episodes myself! And don't tell anyone but I've never seen House or Law and Order.

I'm more of a Chris Meloni kinda girl. Especially because every time we see Vincent D'Onofrio, * (asterisk) reminds me about his role in Men in Black and the Edgar suit...

Well, obviously there is a God. For you at least!

It's amazing that no-one in Cabot Cove ever thought of murdering the little old lady before going on a killing spree. Not sure what would have happened. Would that end the series or would the avuncular sheriff call in the Fonz to help?

Aaaaaaaaaaargh - I come to your post partially because it's like going to see a beautiful painting...but my TV is broke and I'm crying crocodile tears because I can't watch to see what's going on...................I can't even watch my DVD's....and here is this stimulating post for discussion, wahhhh.

To get the full "Vincent" I would highly recommend watching him in Full Metal Jacket - brilliant. When I read that he was in it, I had to go back and watch it again. Amazing.

I am just this side of a stalker for Vincent D'Onofrio. I will watch repeats on the Criiminal Intent. It's gatting embarassing. MY boyfriend kind of tolerates my obsession because I don't talk about it too much. He just knows...because he D'Onofrio is "such a good actor".

Have you seen the episodes with Nicole Wallace? She is a recurring character and is D'Onofrio's Moriarity, nemisis, arch enemy. She is a serial killer, sexual deviant sociopath who elludes and taunts his character. She has been in five eipsodes and is bound to be in more.

I think D'Onofrio is gorgeous, but I think it may be his character Goren I am crushing on. I can't really tell, but I love this character. He was not at all good looking on Men In Black as he was a creepy alien, so this is why I suspect it is espeially this "good acting" on C.I. I am crazy about.

Whata cool deal with a dvd in a snack pack! Wowo.
