Remembrance Day

Sunday, November 12, 2006
I chose not to post my thoughts this year as this day has a personal meaning for me. Two grandparents who served during WWII are now gone, and my father retired a few years ago after serving his entire adult life in the service. I passed the day in my own quiet way. For me, I don't really require a special day to remember those who died in the service of their country...it's with me every day. I merely have to look at my mother's face to see that of my amazing grandmother and all that she did. I have a pic of my grandfather in uniform where I see it everyday and pictures of my father right beside. I think of all three of them all the time and considering how often Afghanistan and Iraq are in the news these days, those soldiers who have given their lives recently and those soldiers who are still serving in active duty are constantly in my thoughts. I thank them all, past, present and future for all that they are willing to give.
