3 A.M. Again and I'm wide awake. I think I might take the day off of work - I've had about 4 hours of sleep per night for the past 4 days and I'm exhausted. And yet I can't sleep.

Rather than trying to write something extremely intelligent or even interesting, I'm posting this picture. Yesterday was our holiday luch at work (which I planned despite the hassel from all involved). We headed off to Allegro's which I have to say is one of the best Italian restaurants in the city.

The picture may not look that fabulous but that is a reflection of my photography skills, not the restaurant. This was the leftovers I took home and had for dinner last night. The original presentation was fabulous - I was the envy of everyone at our table.

The dish is called Penne alle Diavola (Diavolo?). I'm not sure if that's a name they made up or if it's to be found elsewhere. It consisted of penne noodles (perfectly prepared), covered in a tomato sauce filled with red peppers and eggplant. I got them to add some grilled chicken. Heavenly. The sauce comes across as slightly oily but I attribute that to the eggplant, I've found it tends to soak up a lot of oil when you saute it. However, it merely adds to the flavour. Mmmm mmmm good.

Yummy. That looks deeee-lish.

"Alla diavola" means "devil's style", which would also imply some sort of spiciness/heat. Was it spicy too?

I bet "Alla diavola" really means "rich with wormy goodness" because those 'red peppers' look suspect to me.

There is a place in Toronto that has a pizza diavola, spicey and good.
