Going, Going...

...veggie for a week. Inspired by Torontonian Maria over at Naked Knit Girl, I've decided to sign up for the veggie challenge and not eat meat for a week. Considering her well documented addiction to chicken wings, she might find this quite the challenge.

I love vegetables. Mmmmmm. Tomatoes (yes, technically a fruit), potatoes, peppers, corn, carrots, squash, onions, zucchini, parsnips, etc. I don't think this will be too much of a problem for me as I don't eat much red meat anymore and often when we go out for lunch, especially Italian or Asian, I tend to focus on veggie dishes anyways. Oh goodness, I suddenly have a craving for a veggie curry.

On my list of things to do, # 71 is go vegetarian for a month. The challenge is for a week. For now that's what I'm focusing on. If it happens that I can make it for four weeks, fantastic but we'll just take it one day (or rather one week) at a time.

There are lots of reasons to go veggie. If you're curious about it, head on over to the Veggie Challenge for more info, or you can check out PETA's website, or GoVeg.com. I'd love to see a couple of you out there to join Maria and I but I'm not going to be militant about it. No worries about me throwing red paint on you or flashing pictures of tortured chickens or cows.

I could likely do it, if I didn't have a family to cater to.

Thanks for the tips! I'll check the sites out - I'm gonna be chief cook & bottle washer when I return home - watch out meat market, you'll miss me once I have so many wonderful veggie choices!

I'd like to do it too, but I can't be arsed. Then again, when I lived on my own, I didn't eat that much meat. Living with my folks means that I share their dinners, which is fair enough, but it means that meat is often on the menu.

You'll feel great after a week and end up extending it for that month afterall.
