Robert Burns Day

Thursday, January 25, 2007
Today is Robert Burns day. I must admit that I know very little about him other than there are statues of him all over the place, he was Scottish, he was a poet, and he wrote Auld Lang Syne which people around the globe sing at New Year's Eve. Oh, and his birthday is an excuse for people to don various tartan patterns, men to wear kilts (or cilts if you're Welsh) and get completely drunk. Yes, it's quite sad really that I know so little about him. If you would like to learn a bit more about the bard, and therefore impress your friends when you show up at a pub tonight for Burns Night (and not just because of the size of your sporran), check out some of the links below.

I love Robbie Burns day because:

1) men wear kilts
2) people with Scottish accents are all over the place
3) I have free reign to listen to nothing but Scottish bands all day long.

Robert Burns is stinkin' cute! There's no other word for him. If he looked that good in the 17-hundreds, can you imagine?
