Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em

As we were leaving the mall, trudging back to work stuffed full of veggie burritos, my coworker and I happened across one of those cheapo knockoff jewelry stores. You know the ones, everything in the store is always on sale, and they have cutesy feather boas, funny slippers, sparkly purses and funky t-shirts for the under-20 crowd. Normally I just whip on by and can’t be bothered with these places but a small display caught my eye – 5 pairs of socks for $10. They can’t be serious? I’ve paid $10 for a single pair of socks before, how could they possibly be able to let you have 5 pairs??? Figuring they were going to be the ugliest kiddie style socks I’d ever seen, I wasn’t getting my hopes up. Thoughts of “Hello Kitty” and cartoon monkeys crossed my mind. I was not to be disappointed. Although I didn’t see the aforementioned Japanese cat socks, there were plenty of poorly done simian socks. But then…there they were…the coolest socks ever…and then another slightly different pair, and another, and another. Oh my! It was sock heaven! I managed to control myself and only purchase four slightly offbeat pairs and one pair of “in case I have a meeting that day” socks.

Wow, socks and vegetables and birthdays and vegetarianism and waxing and veal and Don Quixote. Who's been a busy girl?!

I've just ordered my copy of Don Quixote, since we saw so many references to Cervantes while in Seville. It seemed only right to add it to our reading list.

I'll be catching up fully with all your posts later today. And for what it's worth, I quite liked the Egyptian theme. Not that I'm saying you should bring it back; just Ancient Egypt is cool.

Those pink ones remind me of a fellow blogger I know...Supercalifragilistic Baloney Sandwich. You should check her out.

Those are boffo socks! I hope they last longer than my $2 socks do, but even if they don't you'll have fun while they last.

I never figured you for the skull and crossbones type! I like fun socks, too, but rarely do I indulge.

i I've been trying to post a comment all day it keeps deleting. I'll try again. I LOVE those socks. My daughter has a cool hat with the jolly roger on it, and long woolen pig tails with pom poms on the ends. Very cool. I love Jolly Roger motifs and skulls.

I have a copy of DQ...should we try to start a discussion on our blogs you me and *? It will be a lot more rewarding and easier to follow I think if we get a group...I bet Mister Anchoy would pipe in too.
