No Longer Just a Damn Dirty Ape

A University of Calgary archaeologist's research suggests "Chimps may have used 'hammers' 4300 years ago". Am I the only who doesn't find this very surprising

Can someone ask whoever entered this article onto the CNN website just what a "hominin" is?

I've been corrected. My bad.

It's a word that appeared in the original press release. ;)

A hominin is anything descended from the common ancestor of chimps and humans. Usually it's just used to refer to the human branch, but there is the chimp line too.

These days the term hominid now refers to a much larger category.
