Oscar Night

Sunday, February 25, 2007
That's right kiddies. Tonight is the night Hollywood strokes it's own...ego and passes out gold statues for the best...performance. The annual event of making my picks has been done and you can check out my choices HERE. Surprisingly, I've managed to watch a few more movies since I made my picks a few weeks ago but that's nowhere near all of the films nominated. So far, I've seen Poseidon (yes it was nominated for visual effects), Pirates of the Caribbean, Pan's Labyrinth, Children of Men (partial), The Good German (partial), Little Miss Sunshine, and An Inconvenient Truth. Better than some years, not as good as others. I won't be watching the Oscars as they're no longer entertaining and the show is FAR too long (way past my bedtime). I will however, check my picks. *Asterisk has also posted his picks. If you'd like to make your own choices, you can find the ballot on the Academy's website.

I have seen:

Babel (OMG - I thought it was awful!)
Blood Diamond
Children of Men
The Devil Wears Prada (terrible, and I cannot believe Meryl Streep got nominated!)
The Illusionist
Little Miss Sunshine
Marie Antoinette
Pirates of the Caribbean
The Prestige
The Queen

I have copies of Pan's Labyrinth and The Black Dahlia, but haven't watched them yet. I won't be watching tonight because my brother doesn't have cable.
