Tomb of Jesus airing in Canada

Saturday, March 10, 2007
I still don't understand why but The Lost Tomb of Jesus is being shown on Vision TV in Canada, not on the Discovery Channel as it is in the US. I understand the connection with Vision TV as it has all religious/spiritual programming but you would think that Discovery Canada would get first dibs seeing as how it's part of the Discovery Channel family. Oh well, whatever. What matters is that my fellow Canucks and I are able to see it. It will be airing tonight at 6:00PM MST. I have a feeling it's likely going to be utter nonsense for the most part, I'm still intrigued to see what on earth James Cameron has done with it. For an interesting discussion on some of the evidence behind the filmmaker's claims, check out Alun's podcast at Clioaudio and his follow up post.

There is a lot of controversy here too, with a lot of historians, anthropologists, and various other academics, and theologins wading in on both sides.

It seems that evangelicals are teh most vehemantly opposed to Cameron's conclusions. After all, if Jesus was married and had children, it messes with a huge amount of theological assumptions.

I should keep an eye open for this over here, I think. Looks like it could be good.
