Ottawa has advanced to the second round by defeating superstar Sidney Crosby and the Penguins. Yay! While I’m still shocked to see Ottawa in the playoffs, I thought it was pretty obvious from the start of the series that they were definitely on their game. A shame that it didn’t turn out to be the most exciting series of the playoffs or go a few more games but I’m not complaining. One Canadian team has advanced…so far. Vancouver looks set to wrap up their series against Dallas in the next game. Score 1 for me.

Anaheim has eliminated the Wild. Damn you Pronger, damn you.

Atlanta is out thanks to the Rangers. Yay, I guess. If I was forced to pick which team I wanted to win this series, it would have been the Rangers. However, they’ll be eliminated quickly in round two. Buh-bye.

I fell asleep watching, or rather listening, to the CBC’s coverage of the Detroit/Calgary game last night. I woke up a few minutes later and realized it was time for bed. Off I went, plumping the pillows, smoothing the duvet, carefully placing the cats in their spots at the end of the bed (they don’t stay there, trust me), brushed my teeth, and climbed into bed. Turning off the light, I glanced at the clock. I was shocked to discover it was only 8:30. Holy cow. My surprise however did not change how tired I was so I hunkered down under the covers listening to the rain fall outside the window and resigned myself to being mauled by cats until they got bored half an hour later and wandered off.

Hot Fuzz opens today. I’m going to try and see it either Saturday or Sunday. Shea was fortunate enough to be invited to an advanced screening which was attended by the stars.

Despite tomorrow being Saturday, a day for relaxing, I have a lot of running around to do. I have to pick up a skirt (yes! A skirt! Ooooooo…) from the tailor’s, finally pick up my cookbooks which have arrived from Chapters (never EVER order online from them**), and then…drum roll please…I’m going to have passport photo’s taken. Step one. Now I just have to find someone responsible to sign my passport application. I’ve emailed a lawyer friend of mine but I haven’t heard back and it’s been almost a week. I may have to suck it up and call my doctor’s office to see if the wonderful Dr. H will do it. I have my next specialist’s appointment on Thursday (I’m expecting yet another med change) and in anticipation of the new wave of dizziness and nausea, I took the Friday off as a holiday. If I’m feeling up to it, I’ll be heading down to the passport office first thing in the morning (6ish) to line up outside. Hopefully it won’t take me the usual six hours in line to hand in my application… And no I’m not going to share exactly where I might be going or when just yet. Plans haven’t been finalized yet and there are some other, outside factors to consider. However, once I know for certain when and where I’ll be heading, I’ll be sure to let you all know!

**Chapters Online aka Chapters Indigo. Never ever order from them. Their customer service is terrible. An order I placed a day later with Amazon arrived three days before my Chapters order left British Columbia. It took almost two weeks for my Chapters to arrive. Oh sure, they shipped it within 24 hours (the reason I ordered those books from Chapters instead of the usual Amazon). However, they sat in Vancouver for 6 days. Then they got moved to the distribution centre in Richmond where they sat for another 3 days. Finally they walked their way to Edmonton where they FINALLY arrived. I contacted the Chapters online helpdesk people twice and was finally told (after declaring I would NOT be ordering through their store again) that my complaint had been forwarded to management. That was Monday. I have received no further response. Sheesh! All I'm asking for is a "Sorry".

Grrrr, more customer non-service stories! When will the insanity end?

Soooo pumped for Hot Fuzz though. I'm not sure when I will see it but it's a sure bet it'll be more than once.

I am so not surprised by your Crapters story. They are a shitty company to begin with and I avoid them like the plague. As for Hot Fuzz...I enjoyed Shaun of the Dead but this new flick just looks ridiculous to me.
