What happened to our early spring?

Those damn groundhogs lied to us! It has now been snowing for the past 3 1/2 days and it doesn't look like it's going to stop. The weather folks keep promising us double digit numbers (on the positive side of zero) any day now but it doesn't look like that will be happening any time soon. How are we supposed to start construction season (we don't have "summer") if it doesn't stop snowing?

Canada's Glenn Howard is no longer undefeated at the Men's World Curling Championships taking place here in Edmonton. Who did we lose to? The Americans. Dammit. Of all the teams to lose to, we had to fumble against the Yanks? Sheesh. It was also the first time in the nine games we've played that they've gone all ten ends. Pretty impressive. However, because we had won our first eight games we've already secured a playoff spot. We have two more draws today against Australia (made up of all former Canadians...) and Scotland. The two page playoff games take place on Friday with the bronze medal game on Saturday and the final on Easter Sunday. Check your local listings, in Canada the regular games will likely be on TSN and the playoffs on either CTV or CBC (but don't rely on me). And if you look at the picture of Glenn Howard on the right, you'll catch a glimpse of the dreaded white belt I referred to earlier. Not a good fashion statement. Perhaps it's a strategic move though - distract your opponents with the disco duds.

I have been hearing a lot of compliments on the ice at the World's though and the high level of knowledge of the fans, so that's something that Edmonton should be proud about.
God I'm going to miss the Scottish team - I could listen to them curl all day long.
