Suddenly Shitty Sundays

Sunday, May 06, 2007
I'm in a bad mood. Actually that's putting it pretty mildly. If I wasn't so gosh darned polite this post would be filled to overflowing with expletives the likes of which would make bikers and sailors blush with embarassment, and the rest of you running for your swearing-english dictionaries.

Sundays are my "happy" days. I do laundry, watch Coronation Street, perhaps some baseball/football/hockey if it's on. Have a hot bath and read whatever book I've currently got my nose buried in at the moment. Sometimes a movie. And I might actually cook a nice dinner.

Today started off well. I got to sleep in (thank you kitties!) until 6 o'clock, watched some news, ate some leftovers for breakfast (shut up, it's the most important meal of the day...) and then watched Corrie Street (Sarah and Jason are about to get married, Charlie's about to cheat on Tracy with Maria, the female singer in Liz's boyfriend's band is working at the pup - yikes - and Fred, who's still kicking, and his wife to be are off to look at houses near Shelley). Laundry was a breeze. Sundays were also one of the days my sister in law and I decided that we would go to the gym. However, they're hosting a birthday party for friends today and instead lent me their car so I could make it to my second appointment with the trainer. Here's where my problems begin...

I managed to make it to the gym (World Health Club in case anyone's interested) only 7 minutes late. Whew! I scrambled through the door, passed my key card to the young fellow behind the counter, and let him know I had a nooner with "G". Well. It seems, according to the receptionist, that G "didn't make it in" today. Excuse me? Say what? Pineapple? He offered to put me with another trainer if I wanted but I actually enjoyed the torture session we had last week and I didn't feel like explaining my goals and current fitness level to yet another person. I declined and said I'd just work out on my own. Overall, I'm pretty happy with WHC. The girl who signed me up was great, always helpful, and checks on me when she sees me working out. The price is good and the location, not bad. However, this is twice now that I've been screwed over when it's come to my free sessions with the trainers. AND I only have 6 more days before they expire. Perhaps that's their plan... Normally it wouldn't have been that upsetting but I made special arrangements to borrow a vehicle and get in there on time (roughly) and I wasn't even given the courtesy of a phone call. I'll be calling and speaking to both G and the fitness manager on Monday.

After coming home, I sat down at my computer to check my email and relax with a quiet game of conquest and destruction (Age of Empires II). Here's problem number 2. My yahoo messenger's been acting up showing one of contacts as being logged on and then logged off and then on and then off and then on and then...you get the idea. This over the course of 2 or 3 minutes. Very frustrating. On top of that, it's been really slow and doing some weird things. It wouldn't let me log onto to blogger because, apparently, it said that my request seemed to be imitating some sort of computer hijacking or something bizarre like that. WTF? This did not help my mood. I decided to run a scan on my computer and opened up my security program, Shaw Secure. It was turned off. Excuse me? Somewhere along the way, I picked up 2 seperate spyware programs and they had shut it down (had to be...I didn't do it!). I ran the scan and quarantined the programs but the report told me it came from two blogs I visit regularly which surprised me. Yahoo's still going bananas however.

As you can well imagine, my BP is likely a bit elevated today. To calm myself down, I decided to go shopping and see if I could get some actual curtains for my bedroom instead of the sheet that currently covers the window in there. Big mistake. The store I went to had almost nothing in stock except super long sheer curtains and a bunch of odd sized plastic blinds. Yuck. Instead I picked up a new fan, some pictures, a new laundry basket, shower curtain and a clock. I thought the total was a bit high when I paid for it but didn't question it as there were about 5 people behind me growing impatient and I'd rather not be attacked by a mob of people that shop at Zellers. It wasn't until I got home, dragged my stuff inside and sat down that I got to check the receipt. YIKES! No wonder it was high. The clock was twice as much as I expected to pay and the items supposedly on sale did not come up as being at the sale price. Crap. Crap. Crap.

The only thing that can redeem this day is that I'm finally going to get to see Hot Fuzz tongiht. However, the way the universe is working for me at the moment, I'm sure I'll sit in gum or spill soda all over my lap. It's bound to happen...

Wow...what a lot of aggro. I'm glad you're going to call the gym on Monday and complain; you are totally justified.

As for Yahoo, funny you should mention you're having issues with it. I have messenger up all the time and ever since I installed it on this computer, it keeps logging me off and then on again over and over every few minutes. I checked my settings and preferences and can't find anything in there to explain why this is happening. I don't know what else to do. Are you on messenger a lot? If so, we should totally chat.

I hope you get to see Hot Fuzz. In the meantime BREATHE...

Hot Fuzz is a good film, very funny (if not a little long-winded). Hope you enjoyed it and that it helped ease the stress.

Hot Fuzz will most definitely ease your sorrows.... BECAUSE IT'S PRETTY MUCH THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!! I seriously cannot think of anything more that I could ask for in a movie. Quite literally, I laughed from start to finish. Enjoy!

Sounds like a lot of arse to be happening in one day. I hope things did improve for you in the end. Are you going to review Hot fuzz??

I'm starting to calm down a bit although the day continued to be crappy after I wrote that little tirade. Hot Fuzz helped for a couple of hours but the problems are still there. I'm going to call the gym this morning and hopefully work things out... I'll keep you all updated.
