Sinners Repent! The End of the World is Nigh! (PART 2)

As if Cheney's brief time as president weren't enough, Mother Nature is giving us some pretty clear signs that she's had enough.

Japan experienced an earthquake earlier this month. Yesterday, a "light" earthquake (measuring ONLY 4.2 on the Richter Scale) jolted the citizens of San Francisco awake in the middle of the night. Now it's being reported that early this morning/overnight, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake rocked Brazil followed a few hours later by a 6.1 magnitude shaker in Argentina.

Ok, perhaps a bit of a fluke that there were four fairly big earthquakes around the world (three in the Americas alone) just this month alone, right? We're not done. On July 5th, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit the Chiapas region of Mexico...

June 13 Guatemala - 6.8
June 2 China - 6.4
March Indonesia - 6.3 with an aftershock of 6.1
The list goes on and on.

A friend of mine went to a book signing/lecture by author/former geologist Simon Winchester (The Professor and the Madman, Krakatoa) about his book A Crack in the Edge of the World which deals with the 1906 California earthquake. During the lecture, he stated that he was positive California would experience a massive earthquake on the same scale as the 1906 earthquake (or greater) before 2030. Frankly it sounds as though it could come a lot sooner than that. All I can say is that I'm glad I don't live on the coast. At least I won't have to worry about Alberta falling off into the ocean when the big one comes.
