And So It Begins...

I have a few minutes before I fall into bed exhausted (yes, it's only 7Pm-ish) so I thought I'd post a quick update. My favourite Aunt (and namesake), Betty arrived in town last night and spent a quiet evening with my mom at her place. Then, bright and early this morning, the three of us met downtown for a delicious breakfast. So began our day of carbo-loading. Actually, only mom ate "breakfast". Betty and I each had a sandwich and fries. God how I love her. She's the best Aunt ever (next to me of course...).

Next, we walked down to the Shaw Conference Centre to pick up our race packages. To my surprise, they not only included a t-shirt (as most races do) but they included a "technical" tee which is made from synthetic material (NOT cotton thank goodness) which "wicks" away the sweat and keeps you relatively dry while running. Awesome. Unfortunately mine is just a touch too small but will make a great shirt to sleep in. I've got my race bib and you can see that shoe has been "chipped" up ready to track my time. Woo hooooooO!

We parted ways then - the older folks headed back to relax (ie: nap) while I took the bus back to my place so that I could finish the spaghetti sauce and clean up a bit. As you can see, someone figured the extra place setting was for them. However, he was a bit lost when it came to using cutlery. Dinner was fabulous. Betty made a delicious homemade caesar salad dressing which went perfectly with my spaghetti and garlic toast. They also provided a bottle of red wine but I passed as I wanted to stay fresh and hydrated for the morning.

Stay tuned for the full report on Monday.

Your cat is gorgeous! Mine does the same thing, sits at the table waiting to be served.

I'm thinking of you as you run like the wind right now!
