El Orfanato (The Orphanage)

Avid Andy over at Control Z posted this trailer and I must say a big thank you to him for it. It looks fantastic. Andy has a great write up regarding what the movie is about and it makes me want to run out and see this movie regardless of the fact that I don't speak Spanish (fingers crossed that it will be released in the US and Canada with English subtitles). El Orfanato is produced by Guillermo del Toro, the same man who gave us El Espinazo del Diablo (The Devil's Backbone which I still haven't seen...) and Labertino del Fauna (Pan's Labyrinth) and we all know how amazing I thought that film was. From the look of the trailer, even without the help of understanding exactly what's happening, it makes me think of a true "scary" movie (not sure if I can classify it as horror but it will probably fall into that category...). Unlike so many of the schlocky horror films that Hollywood is cranking out these days, this seems to be more about what you don't see. And we all know that THAT is what is truly frightening. It's going on my list of must sees for the fall.

Looks fantastic...don't worry it will be released in North America with English subtitles. I know so many people who Pan's L was their favourite movie last year and the director now has a huge word of mouth popularity plus of course, the Oscar nomination will help.

I hope everyone takes the time to watch pan's LABYRINTH I AM STILL THINKING ABOUT IT AND STILL GET CHOKED UP...oops sorry about the caps...

Aw, heck yeah, this looks excellent. PL was a little too grim for repeat viewing but still fantastic, and I loved The Devil's Backbone.
