Unpleasant Dreams

I really should have posted this video last week for Halloween but it slipped my mind. You may have guessed by now that the Captain loves her some cheesey, campy movies. The Pirate Movie is one of my all time faves. One of the best horror-fromage films ever made has to be Elvira: Mistress of the Dark. Now, this should not be confused with her television show. Back in the 80's she actually made a full-length feature film! If you haven't seen it, I'd highly recommend it.

Basic plot, Elvira is a wanna-be star with her own late night horror-movie show (hmmm....) and dreams of making it big in Vegas one day. Alas, she has no money and gets fired when she refuses to sleep with the television station owner. Fortunately her great aunt Morganna dies (well, it's fortunate for Elvira and her plans) leaving her a house, a pet poodle named Fang and a cookbook with the family's secret "recipes". However, the house is located in a town run by puritans who are completely shocked when Elvira shows up to claim her inheritance. Unbeknownst to her, Elvira comes from a long line of witches and the recipe book is actually full of spells. In order to get the money to start her Vegas show, she decides to sell the house to the local old creepy dude who turns out to be a wizard bent on destroying Elvira and gaining control of the spell book. A classic tale of good vs. evil mixed with a healthy does of rebellious 80's nerdy teens, sexual innuendo, and bad puns.

I love this movie so much that today, about 15 years after first seeing it, I still know all the words to the song below. Now all I need is to figure out where to get me one of those outfits...

That was cute - she sorta of reminds me of a singer in my daughter's favorite group - The Horror Pops -

Elvira must be very tiny - -

This was a fun post - I remember her - she was big in a Anna Nicole sort of way for a while - campy - where did you find that movie?
