I haven't been a good blogger - not commenting much on any of my fellow bloggers' posts despite their usual high standard and top notch quality writing. Sorry guys. I'm still trying to get back into the whole blogging mode and stop feeling as though I need a nap and some oxygen after tying my shoes. I'll be spouting off comments left and right by next week, I'm sure.

Dennis Kucinich has dropped out of the presidential race. Sad. Fred Thompson did as well. What the hell took him so long? Frankly, I'm leaning towards Edwards on the Democrat side (despite not being an American) - don't even bother asking about the Republicans. Do you know anything about me??? Sheesh. Speaking of elections, I'm counting down the days until the PC's finally decided to announce what we know is all coming - a provincial election here in Alberta. I expect it will come with the government's throne speech or the day after. Bring it on. There have been a number of polls recently that indicate the province is tired of the conservatives and ready for a change. But are we ready for Kevin Taft and the Liberals? Hmmm.

Race/charity run season is almost upon us and Mom and I are trying to figure out what we're doing. The Breast Cancer run is out this year - we figure 7 years of support is lots plus they get tons of money/advertising already. Definately on tap for us this year is the Terry Fox Run on September 14th this year (a Sunday). Some of the reasons we decided on this one is because (a) there's no registration fee; (b) it's a great cause and not limited to one specific type of cancer; and (c) there are no prizes or "free" tshirts. I think it was NWTRunner (no blog) that first got me thinking about this. Those tshirts aren't really free, nor are those "donated" prizes. It's free advertising for the sponsors and an easy way for them to "donate" without donating money. I know it's early but if anyone would like to sponsor me, you can do so by clicking HERE. I'm not going to pester people like I did each year with the breast cancer donations but I will put a link up in the toolbar on the right eventually.

January isn't quite over but I didn't finish the month meat-free. I'm not beating myself up about it though. Over the past few years, I've drastically reduced the amount of meat I consume, upped my veggies, and have a greater understanding of where my meat comes from and the impact it has. When I eat out, I often have a veggie option or get them to substitute meat with extra veggies. All in all, I'm happy. Or perhaps that's the bacon high I'm currently on...

I was quite disappointed to hear about Kucinich, and not sure who I am backing now.

The political climate in Alberta certainly does seem to be shifting, doesn't it? I'm not sure how much of a shift we will actually see, as big oil and the old boys still hold so much power, but I think this is time for a more even distribution of political power, with the Greens becoming more of a force. As long as we can keep those whacko ultra right wing fringe parties out.

Hey sometimes lifejust gets in the way of fun things like blogging ya know? Good to see you though!

In some ways I think Edwards is the one...I love Obama...but I don't think that the Dems will win with an Ice Queen or Obama at the head...Bill Maher said they need a boring looking white dude...the thing is last week Ralph Nader and Kerry endorsed Edwards I think...but he doesn't have the following of the people.

I was thinking with the unbecomming bs between Obama and Clinton...maybeEdwardswill be a split vote or surface later in the race...

I don't know though...I hate politics and politicians can't be trusted not a one of them it seems...got vote for the lesser evil sadly...

Meanwhile who am I to concern myself with US when Cananda should be ashamed of itself for not ousting that fuckwad Harper by now...
