Lost Season 3 Update (SPOILERS)

Sunday, January 13, 2008
I'm well on my way to finishing season 3 before the premier. I've managed to get through the first 5 episodes so far and frankly I'm pissed off. First, we start the season thinking OH NO! Mr. Eko is dead. Logical considering that the hatch imploded while he was in the middle of it. Then, wonder of wonders, we discover that he, Locke, and Desmond all survived the implosion. Eko, however, has been dragged off by a polar bear (don't ask...) and the others set out to rescue him. They succeed and it looks like he'll pull through and everything will be, relatively, ok. But noooooooooooooooooo, the producers of Lost just couldn't let that happen could they? Granted, you pretty much knew that there was only way Eko was going to be able to come to terms with his own demons and the guilt over his part in his brother's death. I just wasn't expecting it to be so sad...and painful.

The end of Mr. Eko has me sad. Do I continue on with the show now that he's gone? Well, of course I have to. But the loss of my favourite character is a tough blow. Although I was pretty sure he'd have to die anyways...all the characters who survived the crash from the tail section of the plane were getting killed off. Now, that just leaves Bernard. I'm guessing if he doesn't die some horrible death by the end of the next few episodes, he's going to buy the farm early on into season 4. I'd bet money on it.

I won't deny that Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje is hot. Damn rights he is. Tall, muscular, and skin the colour of rich dark chocolate. Mmmm mmmm good. But it was his inner struggles and personal demons that have really drawn me to his character: the guilt he feels over the loss of his brother, the two paths their lives took because of his decision to protect Yemi as a child, and doing what he had to in order to surive while struggling with his both his faith and his conscience. Now that he's gone, what am I to do? I'm sure he'll come back in flashbacks - there's still the unresolved connection between him and Claire with the psychic to deal with. Guess I'll have to find a new favourite character. Hmmm. Jack? Not likely. Sawyer? Puh-leese. Not my type. Ben Linus is actually quite intriguing and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens re: the tumor and his leadership of the others. And we still have Sayid...and Hurley...and Desmond. Ah yes, Desmond. What's up with this Penny situation????

Depending on the writer's strike and it's outcome (hopefully it'll be resolved to everyone's satisfaction soon) we might not see much of Lost for a while. If that's the case, at least I'll be able to start the first season of OZ without any worries.

It was incredibly sad. I liked Eko, too, and was glad they used the plight of child "soldiers" (obliquely referring to the Lord's Resistance Army) in his story. I like Bernard and Rose an awful lot, too, and I hope they make it...
I think Sayid is probably my fave character these days. His instincts are usually spot-on, but he's unpredictable at times. I also like that he saw the good in Shannon when everyone else (me included) just wanted ta smack her. ;D

LOVE LOST...there...said it. OZ...wow thats a crazy one. I made it through season two. It's funny though because out of all the ish that happens in that show a guy getting breast cancer was the worst for me. Ha.

Oh...and your boy Echo is dirty dirty in Oz.

You'll wonder how Adewale keeps his hat on at all those jaunty angles in Oz. Greatest show ever, probably. Great cast, too.

I like Eko as well, and was sad to see him go. I like Sayid - he's probably my fave now, though I'm starting to really like Desmond. The thing about LOST is that no one is safe and the body count as a result is huge. Who knows who's going to buy it next?

I've not watched "LOST" ever on a consistent basis, but am looking forward to the start of the new season. Maybe I will. I've cut off aimless watching, and am choosing what will "take me away." The ads are sounding intriguing.
