Hey world! Just a reminder that Earth Hour is today between 8 and 9 PM your local time. To help raise awareness of global warming and climate change, please turn out your lights for that hour.

Plenty of other things you can do for that hour... candlelight baths or dinner with your partner (or alone); moonlit walk; sleep; get frisky... The list is practically endless.

Sure it might not seem like a big step but consider how much energy will be saved by all of the government buildings, businesses, and individual homes in cities like Stockholm, Sydney, Toronto, Atlanta, Edmonton, San Francisco, when they turn off their lights for just one hour.

If you'd like to do more, consider unplugging applicances like your computer, television, coffee maker, DVD player, lights, and toaster each night before you go to bed. It's not like you're using them anyways and all of those items continue to draw power even when not in use but plugged in. The earth will thank you!

If you're one of those folks who decide to turn out their lights tonight, please leave a comment and let us know what you did during that hour to pass the time without lights!

Lights off, clocks/microwave unplugged from 8-9, but TV will be on. It IS hockey season.

Well yes, naturally! There's a Calgary/Edmonton game tonight...woo hoo! Everything else'll be unplugged, turned off and lights out. I've got the candles ready, popcorn awaiting popping and my seat picked out.

Hey! Even David Suzuki, in a commercial promoting Earth Hour, just said to turn out the lights but you can keep your tv on during the game :) Go figure.

I certainly did turn off the lights (and the TV...).
