Satan Strikes a Blow

Wednesday, March 26, 2008
As if being left permanently brain damaged, confined to a wheel chair and in the care of a nursing home, followed by having your only child killed in an illegal war, wasn’t bad enough for one family…now they’re being sued by Wal-Mart for money the company paid out in health care expenses under their own plan!

Forget China, low wages, anti-union action, and shutting down of local family owned businesses. This story has sealed the deal on Walmart for me. I won’t be shopping there any more.

DISGUSTING! But the US justice system is also at fault here, too.

Satan being Wal-Mart?

That would be correct.

What gets me is that yes, Wal Mart is legally in the right here. It was stated in their plan documents that they could do this.

But seriously...what about the ethical side? A company as large as they are don't need the money from this woman and her family which should be used for her medical care, not to pay back the expenses Wal Mart paid out. Um, perhaps they'd have a better reputation if they were a bit more compassionate.

Unfortunately in the case of accidents this is standard - when the accident settlement comes in, you pay back the health insurance company for the payments made on your behalf as an insured. Crazy? Yes. I found this out after being crippled up in the car accident in Wyoming.

Yes, it is a matter of principle - 9 billion bucks vs. less than half a million...Let it go, I say. Jeez.

They also take out life insurance policies on "top" employees without telling them and when they die they collect on the policies and theygive no money to the bereaved famlies. I haven't shopped in a wal Mart for years now and I never will shop there again. Ever.
