My footprint is the same as yours with my worst area being public transportation (I never use what sparse pub.trans. we have around here). Thanks for the info/motivation. Might have to start walking/biking to work soon. 45 minutes each way would help the environ. AND my huge butt.

Quandary = washing dishes or using recycled, disposable ones? That's an issue here in the SE US because of our drought problems. What do you think?

Walking home is about 35-40 minutes for me. Sure, I might not want to do it but when I get home I feel great. However, I'm likely using too much energy and creating too much garbage which is why my footprint is so high. I also wasn't sure of the square footage of my apartment so I guessed. Either way, my footprint could be a lot smaller (despite the fact I don't own a car or fly).

As for the dishes, I'd say go with washing them by hand (NO dishwasher) and try to use the same glass all day long, the same fork/spoon/knife if you can so you have fewer dishes to wash. Vanessa from Green as a Thistle (my inspiration) finally just started eating out of the pot/frying pan. I think that's a bit extreme but if you're in a drought...

Maybe you guys should just stop playing hockey and you wouldn't use any water to make ice... :) Tee hee.
