And the Winner Is...

KELLY! Chosen absolutely randomly as Mom didn't seem to keen on any of the great classics you wonderful folks suggested. I, on the other hand, am thrilled and will be slowly checking them out when I get the chance. Make sure to email me your address Kelly and I'll pop a postcard in the mail!

Mom has settled on the 2004 version of Taxi starring Queen Latifah. I tried to convince her to watch the original French version but she didn't seem too thrilled. So much for foreign movies with subtitles... Oh well. She's going to get "comedy" and action although after having a quick look at some clips from both films, I think Luc Besson's original would be far more action-y.

And so now my question to you is this: have you seen either version and would you recommend either of them (or the other three installments in Besson's Taxi series)? Besson has been a hit or miss at times for me but is great when it comes to action.

Not seen any of the Taxi films, but based on trailers alone I thought the Latifah one looked terrible...

I have to agree - it doesn't look all that great. But it was mom's turn to decide and while I tried to convince her the French version was likely better, she didn't seem too keen. Oh well, my turn to pick the movie next time around.

And I'm going to watch the original (and possibly the three sequels) on my own and see how it compares. It's Luc Besson...how bad can it be? Wait...um...

Yeah, quite!

Check out 36 Quai des Orfèvres, reviewed over at you-know-where. Very good, if you're in the mood for French police flicks.
