Walmart Update

Wednesday, April 02, 2008
Holy Shit. Is this an April Fools' Day joke? Seems that Walmart has announced it will drop its lawsuit to recoup the money it paid out for a severely handicapped (is that word still allowed?) former employees health care costs. In a letter to the woman's husband, Walmart wrote:

"We are sorry for any additional stress this uncertainty has placed on you and your family."

Um, really? Additional stress? That's putting it mildly. However, the company has also indicated that it is "modifying its health care plan to allow 'more discretion' in individual cases". While this doesn't mean they'll remove the clause in their plans that allow them to recoup loses, it might help a few other families that unfortunately end up in similar situations in the future. I therefore retract my previous statement about never shopping at Walmart again ... I will only shop there if absolutely necessary. There are just some deals you can't pass up.

I will continue to never shop there. They never would have backed down if Keith Olbermann and others had not publicized their wicked behavior. This law suit was just one part of the big picture of what a shitty company they are. I would encourage you to never go there again.

Wal-Mart is wrong and bad. You know it. Do your duty, Cap'n.
