Ah the weekend...

Nice and relaxing. Quiet. Peace and serenity. Or at least it would be if they hadn't started doing road repair on the street outside our building at 8 this morning. Yes I was up, I'm always up that early, but it was still annoying. However, the cats are nice and quiet, there's a delightful breeze coming from the balcony and Admiral Granny's gone to pick up her new glasses. Update: she's returned from her quick trip and has a new pair of fashionable specs. Suddenly my mother's just a bit more hip than I am. Damn. You've got to admit though, she does look quite saucy with her new glasses. However, I had to crop the photo to edit out her salt and pepper coloured nose hair. No one wants to see that do they? Ok, maybe some of you do...we all have our fetishes...

I'm planning on spending the weekend doing not much of anything. Well, that's not entirely true. I've got lots of knitting and plenty of reading I'd like to get done. It helps that there's a Jays' game on at the moment to listen to and tonight the Stanley Cup finals begin (come on Pittsburgh!). I don't have to actually watch either of them to follow what's happening. I think I may have mentioned it before but I'm picking Pittsburgh to win in....ooooh let's go with 6 games. I'm hoping it goes seven (far more exciting) but as long as it's not over in the first four games I'll be happing. The next week is going to be some gooooooood hockey.

Speaking of sports, it's time for the annual Corporate Challenge games. And yes, once again, I'm competing. Now, you know from last year that our team did quite well in my event (did I mention that our company came in first overall for our division...Suh-weet). Anyways, Monday night's the big game night and we're all pretty pumped. Unfortunately that means we're all going to miss game two of the Stanley Cup but that's ok. We haven't had a lot of time to practice together this year so I'll have to make sure to squeeze in a game or two online this weekend. Winning is 90% training....so, here I go. 15-2, 15-4, one for the Jack...across the skunk line. Whew. I need a Gatorade now. That's one tough workout!

As you can see, I've also been keep my pegging fingers busy (and well exercised) with knitting. This is the first "unnamed" holiday project. Pretty simple pattern but knits up quite nicely and is reversible, which is always handy. Thankfully it also takes very little time because you simply repeat the same two rows over and over. I should be finished by Monday. Whew. One item down, 15 more to go. Yay! And, another plus, is that I'm using this pattern for two other gifts so I can scratch off two more from the list and they should be finished by the middle of June. Mom suggested that next year I get started in January. I think she's absolutely correct.

Remember the new knitting store I visited the other day? They offer classes. Including a mitten course. I am SO putting that on my wish list. I know that I sent out mittens last year to a number of you, but I wasn't too happy with them, especially where the thumb joins the hand. I always ended up with holes. If I get to take the class and am able to master it, some of you might just get new mittens next year. Others of you will get your first pairs. After that...sweaters. And no, I won't be making one for everyone. They'll be restricted to family who must continue to love me regardless of the hideous things I make them ... hee hee.

I am extremely disappointed that I didn't get to admire your mom's salt and pepper nose hair. Why do you think I clicked over here anyway?
