I'm In Love

I never thought I'd say those words.

Ok, perhaps love is a bit strong. Hmmm, let's go with "I Heart" ... Vista? That's a bit better. Surprised? So am I. When I ordered my new laptop, I didn't have a choice - I pretty much had to take Vista or nothing else. While I don't do much work at home, it's good to have Word and Excel when i need them. I could have gone ahead and picked up a version of XP at one of the big box stores in town and installed those but I figured what the hell...might as well catch up to the rest of the world. So, I bit the bullet and got it with the Vista package.

Recently I took a 2007 Office refresher without realizing that it is not what is on our work computers. We're apparently still stuck in the dark ages and using 2003 (is that still XP? I think so...). The differences between 07 and 03 are amazing. The updated version (similar to Vista) is far more user friendly. It was such a letdown to have to go back to my office and use the out of date software (or is this what you'd call hardware? Yes, I know nothing about computers).

There's a lot to get used to and some minor changes but all seem to be for the better so far. My anger (including a fair amount of cussing, cursing and crying) at some of the issues I've had since first turning on the great yellow beast (as I lovingly refer to my giant laptop) is due to my not knowing how to use the stupid programs properly. Anyone else using Vista?

I use Vista, and like you, I didn't have a choice when I ordered my computer from Dell.

I have to say, I have had few problems with Vista and can't figure out why there are so many people complaining about it.

My issue was with Microsoft Works, which came installed because I needed word processing software but didn't want to shell out for Word. BIG MISTAKE. Works was HORRIBLE, so I use a combination of Open Office and Google Docs now, which is find.

I do notice with Vista, though, that I have to shut down my computer every night or at least every other night because it tends to freak out a bit if left on for too long.
