This is post #1000. Funny how those things sneak up on you, isn't it. I was hoping to write something insightful and witty for this milestone post but frankly, nothing's coming to mind so I'll just babble on incoherently. Please bear with me.

The balcony beans are going bananas. Not literally but with all the rain we've been getting over the past few days (YAY!) they've really shot up! I'm so happy that something's growing. By the way Gardenia, the last picture in the post below (before the Bunnies) was of Nasturtiums. They haven't bloomed yet but they're growing like...well...weeds. Except they're not weeds.

I bit the bullet and started the holiday knitting today. Tried a new yarn store recommended by a friend and the moment I walked in I knew I had found a knitter's nirvana. Aaaaaaaaah. The stress of the day vanished as I ran my fingers along the skeins and balls of soft woolly goodness. Sorry to my vegan friends but yes, I do use real wool on occasion. However, if I ever make you anything, I'll be sure to guarantee 100% synthetic goodness. The first project should take me no time at all - I'll likely be finished by Monday if all goes well. And no, I'm not saying who it's for, what it is, what the colour is, etc. Everything is a surprise ... unless you're naughty and look at pics you've been warned not to look at. If you do, it's your own fault. I just wrote out my "list" of what I'm making this year and it seems frightening. Basically going to try the "no store bought" gifts again this year for the main gifts and then I can always throw in a little bit of fair trade chocolate, or little trinkets as add ons. However, the list, as it currently stands is 11 people but does not include my father or his wife, my mother-in-law or a work gift. Hmmmm....I'll have to add those on too. Nuts. Ok, quick revision, I've got 15 gifts I want to make and 1 gift that we'll buy for my dad/his wife. There. Done. Includes work, all family and I think my friends. God, I hope I haven't forgotten anyone...

And what the heck is up with European Football? The final of the Champions League was settled with a shoot out? Are you kidding me? No, no, no, no. That's just plain wrong. I'm not even going to comment on the fact that it was between Man Utd and Chelsea. I think we all know how I feel about Man U. However, I will content myself with the fact that my boys from Portsmouth came out on top this year and won the FA Cup. Yay.

Anyways, that's it. I'm pooped and ready to head off to bed. And no wonder, it's already five minutes to 9! Where has the evening gone? Night night folks. Thanks for putting up with 1000 bits of nonsense from yer Captain!

Hurrah on 1,000!

The oddest thing about the Champions League final for me was that it was held in Russia... with two English teams playing. You would think there would be some contingency plan where things can be rescheduled/relocated to save every English fan the trouble and expense of having to travel all the way to Mos-cow...

Thanks Everyone!

Kelly: some do. It's an animal product. While unlike most other animal products, the sheep don't have to be killed to get it, there are arguments against it and the practice of shearing sheep (and llamas, etc). If someone requested no animal products, I'd comply most willingly.

Red: Yep, it seemed so strange - at first I thought maybe it was just an exhibitiion game. Stupid Manchester United...I wish they'd go away.

Wow, congrats on the 1,000. And that doesn't even include the myriad other posts you've made on other blogs all over the place... Wow!

congratulations!

Penalty shots is never a great way to determine who wins. I've watched too many disappointments. And yet I can't look away.
As for Man U, I keep wishing Man U would plummet into relegation. Maybe...one day...
I know I'm dreaming.
Just as I know I'm dreaming when i imagine Newcastle winning the FA cup next year.
