That Time of Year Again...

Saturday, May 10, 2008
Sitting on the balcony after work yesterday, relaxing in the light breeze and enjoying the late afternoon sun, it became very apparent that it was time once again...to shave my legs. Yes folks, after a winter of being delightfully warm beneath the mantle of fuzz on my stems, it was time to take it off.

To be honest, I can't remember the last time I shaved my legs. Probably at the end of last summer. I'm fortunate as a red head that the hair on my legs is fairly light in colour and a lot of folks wouldn't notice ... but I do and frankly, looking at it made me shiver at the ick-factor. I suddenly longed for the smooth shaven feel of hairlessness.

After a light walk around the neighbourhood this morning, I hopped in the shower, razor in hand. I emerged 15 minutes later ... soaking wet, clean, and minus a whole lotta hair. Oh sure, I missed a bunch around my knees and the odd stray here and there but oh boy does that feel pretty fabulous! Now it won't sound like crickets mating when I cross my legs. Ah, how lovely. Now I just have to find the time (and money) to get that pedicure I'm in desperate need of.

I guess I should probably do mine as well. Actually, it's the pedicures that keep me shaving regularly throughout the winter. You can't get a pedicure with fur intact!

And I consider pedicures to be a medical necessity, not a luxury.

I've been wearing long trousers all w/end (despite the weather being really glorious here) because I just hate shaving my legs. Razors make me shudder. I wish my best friend was a waxer/waxist/wax artist? who could come round and do me every few months. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and go ahead with it tomorrow, though, since there is talk of a little trip to the beach...

Hope you're having a fab w/end!

Yep, it certainly is that time again for me, too. I love my Schick Intuition, actually. Makes everything such a breeze! I also have seriously dry skin, so I have to moisturize after shaving, which adds an extra step, but it's worth it. Like you, after the late summer/fall, I don't even bother with the legs, though; I don't see the point.

I look like a Sasquatch (lovely image I know) if I don't shave so I've been shaving all year long.
I'm contemplating knee-high socks again like I use to wear up until I was 13 when my sister told me that I had to shave my legs because the hair on them was ugly (thanks sis'). So I may try the long socks again. I've seen some runners with the knee-high socks and shorts and I think it might be the look for me.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH WONDERFUL POST!!

Well, I am going to the seaside next week, so guess what? The past week-end I spent more than a hour in the bathtub shaving my legs from top to bottom, in preparation, so that next week I just do a quick shave and that's it.
I had not shaved my legs since...September 2007. Can you imagine what kind of wilderness I had to deal with?!
