Monday Wasn't So Bad After All

Yesterday turned out to be a better day than first expected. Yes, still sad that Italy lost to Holland but let's move on. There's still at two more games to play...

How did yesterday redeem itself? Well, let me tell you. I received yet another fabulous blogger parcel in the mail! This time it was from the world's biggest Caroling Hurricanes fan, The Sliding Pokecheck. And dollars to donuts, you knew there'd be some 'Canes gear inside. She sent me a lovely 'Canes toque to keep my noggin warm during our cold Edmonton winters, some fantastic mini bottles of Burts Bees' various lotions to keep my skin soft, a bunch of funky fridge magnets (no I will NOT be putting up the Rod Brind'amour magnet on my fridge...sorry Pokecheck), and a homemade suncatcher to hang in the window. There are, unfortunately, no pictures as the battery in my camera died but it was a fantastic surprise to receive on a Monday.

But wait! That's not all. During halftime of the Italy match, my phone range. A couple of kooky kids on the other end were calling to commiserate with the Captain about the poor showing in Eurocup. You think I'm perky? Ha! That's nothing. Hellloooooooo? Hellloooooooooo! Hellloooooooooo! Tee hee. Thanks guys! It was great to finally have a chat with "real" people. And I promise to at least try something made with seafood, as long as you make it for me. But you have to introduce me to Cat in exchange. Promise?

And then of course, I had the day off work which made it a good day even without all the rest. The Admiral is stunned at all the parcels and packages which have been arriving since moving into the new quarters. And to be far, there has been a deluge over the past month - it's not normally like this. She also asked when it was that I last talked to the tattoo'd wonder and his missus. When I explained I'd never met them, nor talked to them before (or any of the other folks with whom I've exhanged little trinkets, videos, pics, letters, etc) she was shocked. I suppose it does seem a tad bit odd, especially to those out there who don't blog, vlog, or flog. Um...ok, maybe not that last one. I don't know what it is or how to explain it. Sure I've never met any of you. I've video chatted with one, exhange holiday/birthday presents with a couple, email most, and have swapped goodies (presents you pervs!) with many. To me it doesn't seem all that strange. I do the same for "in-person" friends as well. It's just how I roll.
Anyways, I hope everyone else had a good Monday despite the fact that it was...well...Monday.

Oh, knitting update for y'all. The giant holiday knitting list? Yeah, that's out the window. Having issues with some of the projects so I'm pairing it down. Dramatically. It used to be 16. Now? I'm limiting it to 8. Any more than that and I'm going to have to stab someone with my 3.5mm circular needles. And they're pretty dull now. Think about it. Besides, eight is doable by the time I have to get some of them sent out. Whew. What a relief.

Ha, it was great to chat to you, but it went so fast with the second half to get back to...

Here's a knitting pattern for you. Adam the woolly ant.

I can imagine it being weird to explain to someone who doesn't do it who these people are who call and send Red Cross parcels!

It was sooo lovely to talk to you, Captain! We should make that our ritual for every Italy game. (Or maybe not, seeing how that first match ended up! Do you reckon it was us who jinxed it? Surely not! I think Buffon was on drugs or something, I've never seen him so spaced out.)

Haha - so glad you like the stuff I sent. I MUST see a picture of you in the 'Canes cap next winter - too funny.

*Asterisk: thats hilarious! A bit too advanced for me at the moment I think but I did like the pattern for the bat scarf. Tempting...

Red: Us? Jinx the boys? No. Never. I refuse to believe it. Impossible. But just to be on the safe side, it's a good thing they're next two games are while I'm working. Perhaps if they make the next round and there's a weekend game. But, it's my turn to dial your digits.

Pokecheck Pictures? Of me in 'Canes gear? But...that could be used to blackmail me later! Oh, alright. For anyone else, I wouldn't but for you - sure thing :)
