So Where Do I Sit?

Now that Italy's been eliminated from Eurocup, I don't know who to cheer for. Yes, I'm retracting my previous statements about cheering for Spain. I just don't know if I can do it. Not Germany, and not Turkey so I guess I'm going to have to go with Russia. Or Spain. If Germany makes the final, I'll cheer for whomever plays them. Whatever. Ignore me, I'm just bitter.

In the North/Central America/Caribbean (CONCACAF) qualifying rounds of World Cup 2010, Canada has advanced to the group of 12 in their region. They haven't determined the three groups of four for round three yet but I'm guessing by looking at the website, we might get stuck playing against Mexico, Jamaica, and Honduras. As long as we finish in the top two for our group, it's on to stage 3. Can you just imagine? Canada in the World Cup? Shhhppt. Yeah, right. Even if we take one of the 3.5 spots available, we then have to make it through the qualifying rounds with the rest of the world before the actual tournament. Chances are...well, let's just say they're slim but we're still cheering them on.

Decided to crawl out of my room, put aside my tears (alas...poor Italy), and join the rest of the apartment's inhabitants for some quality time. Unfortunately, unless I wanted to park my cute derriere on the floor, I wasn't welcome:

One of us often ends up sitting on the floor thanks to Cat's propensity for making us feel like we're encroaching on his space...

Italy played like shite, though! I wasn't even sorry to see them go out. They were relying on some curse that the Spanish have had hanging over their heads regarding losing on penalties on 22 June, and it soooo backfired. Luca Toni is a mezza sega. Standing in front of the goal and waiting for the ball to be passed to you does not make for good football. Plus, he seems to be growing a porn-star moustache. Bleah. I felt sorry for Pirlo, though.

Anyway... the semis look exciting!

Sniff was remarkably calm about the situation. Think I was more disappointed for Italy than she was. I have to say, Spain looked more like they wanted to win, with Italy looking to plod about.

Ah well.

No matter how many cat places you set out, they always want the one you would choose.

What lovely cats. They look so content (as does your mom I might add).
I'm with red, Italy played like shite. They didn't deserve to advance. Now it looks like Donadoni is out. Finally! That was a stupid decision from the get-go anyway.
I'm sorry Turkey didn't advance. They played a great game against Germany.

I'm taping today's game so we'll see who will be playing Germany.
