Toe Update

One more toe update for everyone. It's been just over a month since I tried to remove it by slamming it into the runners for the balcony door and about two weeks since the last update - you must be anxious to hear all about it!

The nail has NOT fallen off. YAY! And it shows no sign of promising to do so either. Double YAY! It is however more hideous than before. I had decided about two weeks ago that I was in desperate need of a polish so I went out and bought the most hideous colour I could think of (technocolour bruise I call it). Why? I was delirious apparently. It really was a nasty colour, one of those ones that change colour depending on how the light hits it. Guess that's what happens when I go shopping first thing in the morning before taking the blood pressure meds...bad things happen... Anyways, it's started to chip and peel so I figured tonight would be a good night to take it off considering it's too hot to do anything else. I was not prepared for what lay beneath the surface. Literally.

The bruising under the nail is far darker than what I had assumed was the worst of it, right before putting the polish on. Apparently I was wrong. You can see where it's still lifting in the upper right corner (uggh). At first I thought the polish was just really really hard to get off so I kept rubbing and rubbing but it just stayed there. And then I realized....ooops! That's not polish, that's blood. You can see how easy it was to make that mistake. I left a tiny sliver of polish on the lower edge and lower left to compare the colours. God, it's hideous. I feel like the elephant man. Except it's my toe, and it's not really deformed, and I'm not a man. But other than that it's exactly the same thing. Someone should make a movie about me.

I decided to crop the photo in order to cut out the other toes which have been horribly neglected. They are in desperate need of an appointment with an esthetician but I just don't have the time, willpower, or money to go.

It's a actually a rather pretty colour, in a urban decay sort of way.

I echo Barbara's sentiment. Sometimes, gross is lovely. And that toe is pretty gross.
