Brief Relief

No I'm not talking about my underwear. Although given the heat and humidity we're currently experiencing, the thought of running around buck naked has it's appeal. Provided there was no one around to see it, that is. We finally received a break in the heat, somewhat, today in the form of a sudden downpour that was so thick it seemed foggy in our section of the river valley. Unfortunately it only lasted about 1/2 hour but it was nice for that brief span of time. Now, it's even more humid than before.

The good news? We don't have to water the plants tonight. And it's going to go down to 12C overnight. Whew!!! I'll finally be able to sleep without sticking to my sheets (don't be gross).

Tonight we had yet another delicious salad made with our very own lettuce from the garden. Mmmmmmm. Just some green leaf lettuce but still tasty. Next year, I'm going to try romaine. We served it up with some corn on the cob (4 cobs...I had one...guess who ate the other three?) and a couple of veggie egg rolls. The spring rolls weren't great nor necessary as the salad and corn were more than enough.

Posted another review over on my book blog. Don't get excited - it's not a very good book. And I'm now only at book #70. Just 930 more to go...

Salad direct from the garden rocks! We picked some leaf lettuce today too, and some fresh herbs and some onions. Yum.

Now you have a taste of the heat and humidity that we get down here in TN.

I've got romaine growing in my garden and it's doing fairly well so far. Not ready to harvest yet, but I do hope to have some tasty Caesar salads in the next couple of months.

I've given up on the chives and onions I planted.

The salad looks delicious and how rewarding to have grown your own food!
