You'll Miss Me Tomorrow, Admit It

I won't be around much for most of the day on Friday. I've got an important appointment in the morning and my early morning ritual of checking email, visiting the blogs, reading the news, etc will be put on hold so that I can continue to prepare for this meeting. I might stop by briefly around lunch time to update everyone on how it went ... or not if it didn't go as great as I'm hoping. I've been preparing on and off this week in the hopes that I wow the three people I'm going to meet with. I'm trying to not get too excited as I've had my hopes dashed in the recent past but it's hard not too. Arrrrggggghhhhh. Pirating and pillaging are far easier than preparing for this kind of thing.

The good news? I know two of the people doing the interview and worked with both of them before. I've got great references including one of the people I'd be working with. I know a lot about the work as I deal with this group regularly in my current job and I've worked with them in the past albeit in a slightly different position. I know the structure of the organization, how it works, the legislation governing them, and how the members of the organization are appointed. I've got plenty of notes and have answers to common questions I'm anticipating. And I'm the first appointment of the day.

The bad news? They could already have someone else (an internal candidate) in mind and this is just a formality. I could freeze at the first question. My wacky sense of humour could ruin everything at the last minute. They might secretly not like me. I could oversleep. I might realize after talking with them that this job is not for me and I have to go through the process all over again. I hate that. I could have gas.

Any one of those things could spell D-O-O-M. Fingers crossed that, regardless of how it goes, I'm going to win the lottery tomorrow night.
