Captain says Noooooooooo

That pretty much sums it up, folks. Wait, I'm getting ahead of myself. Back to the beginning we go, children! The interview went well, although I wouldn't say I necessarily aced it. I was prepared, had well thought out answers to pretty much all of their questions except one which threw me for a loop so I made something up which was complete BS but who knows. They didn't seem to notice. They will be doing a second round of interviews next week but I won't be going.

Never fear kidlets, it is not a sad day aboard the Swiftsure. I'm perfectly fine with my decision. Well, if it in fact becomes my decision. They may not call for a second interview which means it's out of my hands but if they do...I will politely thank them for their offer and then turn them down. You see, the job is not what it seemed. As often happens, the job ad (and the detailed description they emailed to me) was deceptive. It made the position seem fantastic, lots of room to expand my horizons and take on new challenges. Alas, they wanted someone to take minutes. All the time. And not just for them. I have done this in the past and I must say that it is certainly NOT my most absolute favourite thing in the world to do. And the thought of doing it all the time? No thank you. So, I shall continue to look for something more suitable which is just fine. Although I feel a bit bad as I fired off an enthusiastic thank you note to them after I got back to my office. Yikes. Ah well. Live and learn.

On a more positive note, I headed to the spa after work yesterday and treated myself to a very expensive manicure and pedicure. It was definately worth it. Relaxing, soothing, and my toe nails are now a colour I like to describe as "saucy sex kitten". It's a very glossy, vibrant orange-red that makes me think of 1940's pin up girls. Oh yes boys, my toes are that sexy indeed. The fingers are a bit more respectable, work-appropriate colour. Next time however I might just take a walk on the wild side and completely tart myself up. I'm also very proud of the fact that I managed to not smudge any of my toes or fingers on the way home. That's a first. Oh if only I could afford to keep this up. It's nice to be pampered. For those who are interested, and in the Edmonton area, for a mani/pedi I recommend Spa Opus. It's conveniently located downtown and they've switched their line of polishes to SpaRitual which is vegan and free of something else (PB I think...peanut butter? That doesn't sound right) that I can't remember off hand. FYI, the colour I chose for the toes is called "Hunk of Burnin' Love" which you can view here if you so desire and the fingers were "Love Your Mother" or "Bon Apetit", I can't remember which but again, click if you feel inclined to do so.

Internet Explorer is being a bit of a bitch today (pardon my language). It won't let me open up a number of blogs and is having issues with other sites as well. It's not just me either, Dr. Monkey has been having some issues to. So, this morning, I finally took the plunge and switched to Safari. I didn't like it. Sure, the problem with opening various pages is gone but ... ick. It doesn't strike me as "user-friendly" but I like things simple (even though I'm not). Next up, Firefox. I'm enjoying it so far. A bit of tweaking this morning to set it up just how I wanted it but so far so good.

Gentleman, take note. If you want to woo a woman and have her ready to peel your clothes off, try this (unless, of course, you've already mastered the art of Numberwang). Results guaranteed.

Sounds like they had to talk the job up in the ad just to get people to apply. Minutes? All the time? Booooooriiiiiiing! I don't blame you for not wanting to go back for a 2nd interview.

PS. I really like Firefox. I had Safari and didn't like it, either. I don't use IE for blogging at all, but I have had some feedback that someone couldn't get onto my blog yesterday, so I wonder if this person was using IE.

I like Firefox best. I love how spellcheck is incorporated into blogger with it.

Minutes suck ass's ass. I do about 2/3 meetings worth. They're the worst bit of my job. Tell them to poke it.
