Avast Me Bloggies, I Still Be Here

Saturday, January 17, 2009
Although I haven't had a whole lot of interest in blogging as you can obviously tell. There hasn't been a whole lot going on in my life worth chatting about (lots in the rest of the world but I just haven't had the mental energy to voice my opinions). The new job at work has been going well. It's nice to be busy once again. And to have folks to talk to throughout the day. Very nice indeed. I also was fortunate to get a raise this month - I'm guessing there won't be much more of that in the next while given the way the economy is going. Everyone's getting hit hard - so far no layoffs in our office. Hopefully there won't be any...

Away from work, I've been keeping busy reading and watching a bunch of documentaries. Recently it was Terry Jones' Barbarians (yes, the cute little fella from Monty Python). I started today on his 3-part series, Ancient Inventions and once that's done, I'm hoping to watch his Medieval Lives. With a degree in history and his fabulous sense of humour, he's a perfect presenter for this type of program. Far better than straight-laced, no charisma whatsoever Peter Weller who hosted the series Engineering an Empire - a great series but listening to him made my skin crawl. I definitely would NOT buy that for a dollar!

I recently deleted over half of my "friends" from Facebook. If you're one of them, please don't be upset. The note I sent you hopefully explained everything. While I love the ease and speed of e-mail and instant messaging, I miss the days of phone calls and letters (you remember, the ones written on something called paper). Plus, I was being bombarded with "friend requests" from innumerable former high school acquaintances who found me through other former high school acquaintances who don't even bother to contact me again once I've accepted their friend requests. It's not why I signed up for Facebook in the first place.

The 365 Flickr Project is going well although I don't know if I'm going to make sure that every picture has a piece of me in it. If I did, I'd have to start taking pictures of parts of myself that could border on pornography and no one wants that. Do they? DO they? No? No you don't right? Please say no... Today's shot of my ear was a prime example of why I shouldn't force myself to be in every shot! I have had a few interesting photos that have resulted from the photo set and overall I'm quite proud of what's resulted. I have to make sure to plug Picnik as a free photo-editing site. I could play on it for hours. And, sadly, I have.

Finally, here's a fun little video that my good friend, Ms. Moneypenny posted on Facebook the other day. I'm anticipating just as much fun when I'm in London... Have a good weekend Mateys.
