Is This What 2009 Has in Store for Me?

Welcome to the new year. So far? Not great. On the 1st, my father and his wife came into town for some doctor's appointments and, as always, big-city shopping. This invariably involves the hunting down of ... prepare yourselves ... Beanie Babies. I thought the whole fad had passed but apparently not. However, I digress. We all got together at Big Brother's for an afternoon of visiting and one of his fabulous meals. This New Year's day dinner consisted of mashed potatoes, brussles sprouts, asparagus, corn, peas, and 100 bulb garlic chicken (or some such name). Declicious as always. It was also probably the first time we'd ever discussed politics with Dad - much of it centred around Obama's upcoming presidency and what the future holds. After dinner, we all settled in to play a game of Settlers of Catan. I don't recommend playing against my 4 year old nephew. He's a shark. And my 62 year old father? Brilliant tactician. It was frightening to play against the two of them.

About halfway through our game though, I developed a sudden, intense pain in my stomach. The closest thing I can compare it to is a gas bubble. It was so painful, I had to leave the table and ended up lying on the bathroom floor. Back downstairs a few minutes later, no better. Managed one more move and then back up I went. This time though, I was sick. More stretching out on the floor thinking "boy, they need to dust up here" along with groaning in agony. I crawled back downstairs and muttered something about someone taking me home. I guess I didn't look so well because they started packing up the game immediately. The pain slowly went away and by the time we had our parkas and boots on, I was feeling much better.

The step mother thinks it's my gallbladder which I think is a bit of a stretch. The sister in law and I think it may have been an allergic reaction to some sort of herb in the tea we drank. I've had similar "attacks" before - but can never find a common trigger. Regardless, since then I haven't felt very good (headachey, slightly ill, tired) so I've been taking it easy. Isn't that a lovely way to begin a new year?

While I've been resting, I've been trying to set up a new blog for my London Trip where I can write about all the fabulous things I did and post pictures. However, the template is giving me issues. I'm also trying to change my book blog template and move all my movie reviews over to a new blog. It would help if I wasn't so computer illiterate. Other than that, the only other thing that's been going on? Keeping up with my 365 Photo Blog. 11 days in and I'm already struggling to come up with interesting photos to take/post. It's going to be tough but I'm working on it.

Hm. Pain like that is not good. I have no idea what it could be and don't want to hazard a guess, however.

Where is the link to your photo blog?

I'm not too concerned about it - this is the third time in about 2 years. I'll mention it to the cute doc next time I go and see him though just to be sure.

As for the link, I've posted it in the next blog entry.

It does sound like an allergic reaction or at least a sensitivity to something you ate.
I'm glad it wasn't serious though and that you did feel better.
