Toe Update

I apologize.

However, I was thrilled (sort of) when I took a close look at my big pinky today. As you can see from the picture, the new portions of the nail are healing ... finally. It's been roughly nine months since my encounter with the balcony door and I can finally detect progress. I'm guessing that by the fall, my big toe will be back to it's normal self. Whew!

When I was a kid, my father had broken his big toe when a house fell on it. No he is not the Wicked Witch of the West disguised as a short bald man; it's a long story. The point of the story is that his entire toe (but especially the nail which eventually fell off) was black. It took well over a year for it to heal. Thankfully my injury was mainly to the nail, nothing broken, but I'm still surprised that it's taking this long to grow out.

The picture, while encouraging, is also a bit disturbing. You may have to click on the picture to get a "good" close up (but consider yourself warned). The top part of the nail, near the end of my toe, is still dark - you can see where the blood pooled underneath. Its what I expected to see. However the part in the middle, just above the healthy part, is a bit gross. It looks bubbly and the top layer of the nail is peeling off - I'm not looking forward to what might be coming. Eeeewwww.

Anyways, I promise to refrain from any more photos of my creepy toe until it's healed.

That middle, bubbly part is quite cool. It reminds me of prosciutto.

Oh. My. It looks...better...but YEEK! I'm so sorry you've had to deal with a bum toe for 9 whole months. You're a trooper, Cap'n!

It does kinda resemble presciutto, heehee.

Yours was not the best blog to click onto while taking my first bite of this chocolate mint.

Good heavens. Maybe you need to eat more leeks or something to make your toenail grow faster.
