It ain't easy trying to be green...

This afternoon I stopped by the dollar store to pick up some small items for our garden. As I was pulling out my wallet, the cashier began putting my items in a plastic bag. I said "Oh, I have a bag of my own to put that in." She barely glanced up at me and said "That's OK". Um...wait. What? No, it's not ok. There's a reason I don't want you to put my items in a plastic bag, thank you very much. Even as I unrolled my bag and plopped it down on the counter, she continued to pack stuff into the plastic bag. I paid for my items and then began pulling stuff out and repacking it in my own reusable bag. The look I was given was one of stunned miscomprehension. "I don't want the plastic" I explained. She smiled politely as I walked away and moved on to the next person. I still don't think she really grasped the concept.
