Summer Project

Thursday, April 23, 2009
Alongside all the reading and gardening I'm hoping to do this summer, I've been looking for a knitting project. Preferrably a sweater. For myself...since I STILL haven't made myself anything. For a number of months I've been contemplating trying to make this sweater but I really want someone to knit with. There's a Stitch'n'Bitch group here in Edmonton but I'm not too keen on joining up with a bunch of die-hard knitter types. Ah, why can't philosopher / writer / knitter / zombie fighter / mant-watcher, Heather, live in Edmonton? Sheesh. I have one friend here in E-town who knits so I might see if she wants to get together once every week or so and knit one of her own along with me. Given how busy she usually is though ... I might be one lonely knitter.

Cute sweater! You never know; you might learn some new stuff from those Stitch 'n Bitch gals.

Wow that sweater pattern is so cute! Makes me want to amp up my very limited knitting abilities. I keep telling myself I'll join in on a nearby Stitch 'n Bitch that meets at a coffee shop each Wednesday, but haven't done it yet. Maybe you've inspired me to give it a whirl next week.

If I was closer I'd knit with you. I'd love to have a group to knit with too, but I'm embarrassed by my self taught skills.

That sweater is fab. I'd like to knit one for myself.

WC, that's true. I'm sure they'd have a lot to offer but I'm not a big fan of crowds. I'd rather sit with two or three folks and be able to carry on a conversation.

Pokecheck: why not give it a go? Although you might want to wait until the playoffs are over :)

SP: I'm mostly self taught as well. Heather's been a great help when I've had questions and has some great "how to" videos on her blog but most of it has come from surfing hte net and looking in knitting books. And just cause you're a province away doesn't mean you can't knit along with me...! Perhaps we should have a "Knit-along". What do you say?

Milla: Isn't that a great colour? I think it would great with a plain white fitted tee underneath. I'm going to see if I can find something similar.

Alas...we could have some very good zombie movie knitting nights were I to live in Edmonton.

Cute, cute, cute! I used to knit - to exacting for me, but I love the finished product so have a bad case of knit envy!

Just don't knit & wear the sweater in the picture...you might get arrested for indecent exposure. ;D

Sorry I dont knit. I know how to make a chain and go from there but never made anything besides a blanket that I had to crochet my squares together though.. LOL.. So I will stick with my crocheting..
