Hail Caesar!

That truly Canadian of drinks, the Caesar (or bloody Caesar) is having a birthday! This zippy, spicey drink is turning the big 4-0! Congratulations. This is the drink of choice for women in my mother's side of the family, myself included. If you haven't had the pleasure, I suggest you get yourself to Canada, grab a straw and start sipping. Mmmmmm. Clamato juice.

Traditionally made with a stick of celery and salted rims, I'm also had the pleasure of enjoying one where the bartender substituted a pickled green bean. Let me tell you, the bean packed quite a whallop! Vinegary and spicey? WOW!

Another summer classic...beer and Clamato juice. Not as enjoyable as the Caesar, it's a refreshing thirst quencher on a hot day. Hmmm, that reminds me...I wonder if Red and *Asterisk enjoyed their mini-cans of Clamato...?

To be honest, Ceasars totally gross me out. It's like cold, alcohol-laced veggie soup...

I can honestly say that I've never tasted Clamato and that I never will. Yet another benefit of being vegan.

I use to make Caesars fairly often when I worked in a restaurant. I use to put spicy beans in the drinks as well. I'm not sure where that tradition started.
