Thank God Alberta's A Rat Free Province

Tuesday, August 04, 2009
THIS little bit of news does NOT make me feel very good though. What if the people who've fled end up infecting even one other person? Then that person infects two friends. And then they infect two friends. And so on, and so on, and so on (why do I feel like I should suddenly wash my hair?). Egads. And here I was thinking the plague was gone from our lives... Remember how folks began wearing face masks after SARS? And a few did during the recent Swine Flu outbreak? I hope they hung on to them. YOu might just need them again.

Yeah, the plague is still around - it's in Africa, too. I'm not worried, though. You should read Year of Wonders, it was excellent.

I seem to recall that it's fairly treatable with antibiotics, though.

I don't think we need to start worrying until the zombie plagues start. Once that happens...watch out!

Alberta's rat free? Seriously? Politicians included?

As a dedicated rat-lover, I'm actually bummed to live in a rat-free province. But if it stymies the spread of plague, well, that's OK.

there's how many people in the world, with china leading in overpopulation? no wonder we're seeing pandemics....or at least watered down versions. glad they quarantined the place......vancouver's rife with rats and many chinese visitors.

all i know is i have my bottle of 'medieval remedy' standing by just in case :D
