Uh Oh...That Didn't Feel Good

So....I may have a problem. Sunday night/Monday morning, I awoke around 1:30 a.m. with what I thought was either heartburn, a massive gas bubble or some bizarre combination of both. Oh great. It started to get worse, spreading from my stomach into my chest and throughout my abdomen. WTF? I got up and tried walking around, remembering how my treadmill makes me ... um ... musical. After about 10 minutes things seemed fine but just to be safe, I sat down and flipped through various infomercials for half an hour. When it seemed all was well, I headed back to bed. After about 20 minutes of cat snuggling, the burning returned when I rolled onto my right side. Uh oh, bad idea. I'll just roll back to my left side and everything will be ok. Yeah, famous last words. That made it worse. For the next two hours, I experienced massive cramping and intensive burning from chest to abdomen, vomiting, fever, and back pain.

To be honest, I never considered the idea of a gall bladder attack until I called my mother at work in tears aroung 3:30 a.m. In my mind, I figured it was some sort of massive food poisoning brought on by my yummy dinner. However, when she got home later that morning and I once again described what had happened, and how I was still feeling (dizzy, feverish, nauseous, weak), she just kept nodding her head. You see, she had her gall bladder removed back in her early 40s. After doing some research, it's very likely that I indeed had a gall bladder attack. I'm soooo not happy about this. It means no more rich foods such as beef bourguignon or my sister in law's 1000 clove garlic chicken (which I've reacted to before but didn't connect until yesterday). Guess I have something new to talk to the fabulous Dr. H about when I go to renew my prescriptions next month. Fantastic.
