Happy Thanksgiving Canada!

Monday, October 12, 2009
Today, Monday, is Thanksgiving here in Canada. For the first time in a long time, we have snow for the holiday. Sure the weather is typically cold, or at the very least cool, I can't really remember the last Thanksgiving we had snow. Of course, it's supposed to hit +10C in the next few days so it'll be gone pretty quickly but for now...Yippee!

Our family celebrated yesterday with a huge turkey dinner at Big Brother's house. Turkey, a pork loin, mashed potatoes, mashed parsnips (for the SIL who is allergic to 'taters), carrots, stuffing, salad, buns, and my famous cranberry sauce. There was also red wine and mead (based on my last reaction to red wine, I passed). For dessert, we had pumpkin pie, apple pie, real whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. There was also my pumpkin bundt cake which everyone loved. It was moist and delicious, the icing offering just the right amount of sweetness. SUCCESS! There were a suprising amount of leftovers given that we had about 20 people over for dinner this time around including 4 kids and at least 5 guys who could wolf down three full plates of food in the time it takes most folks to eat one...and still have plenty of room for dessert.

I know have today off (statuatory holiday) and I took tomorrow off for an extra long weekend. Tomorrow, I'm planning on re-arranging my bedroom which should take a good portion of the day (heavy furniture and the treadmill) but today I'm heading off to the cinema to watch Zombieland with a friend. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. Take it easy and stay safe!!!

Wow, I thought we had a lot of food, but it was nothing on your feast. Of course we had 4 people and a cat, so.

Can't wait to hear what you think of Zombieland.

It's cold here but no snow yet - thank God. Glad your dinner was so wonderful. Enjoy your long weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving! How was Zombieland?

The bundt cake looks awesome - great alternative to pie, which can get pretty old.

1) Next year, I'm invited to your house to eat with your family, so you'll have 21 people at your house :)

2) What are 'taters'? You mean 'tasters'?
