Come on Spring!

Tuesday, February 02, 2010
I can't begin to describe the excitement I have this year for the coming spring. Sure, I'm the one who loves winter, snow, cold weather and all that jazz but I'm eagerly awaiting the moment when we can start spening time out on the balcony again. I want to plant seeds. Stick my hands in dirt. Feel the green leaves between my fingers. Yell at the cats for eating the beans. From the sounds of it, most of the groundhogs in North America have declared spring is just around the corner so I might take my sister-in-law's advice and start planting seeds indoors now. I can then move them outdoors once the weather warms up. Maybe I'll wait until March 1st.... that might be wiser. However, the herbs can be grown indoors. Hmmm. Much to think about. In the meantime, I strolled around Flickr looking at other balcony gardens and found some I'd like to share. I wish more people would grow things on their balconies in the cities. It doesn't have to be veggies - flowers, grasses, herbs. Anything green. Just look how gorgeous these pictures are. Enjoy.

It doesn't have to be fancy. You can use old ice cream buckets, cans, plastic containers, wooden boxes, etc. Go on, grow something this summer.

Those are lovely balconies!

I've been gazing out at my patio. I'm eager to get out there and garden as well, but it's only February!

I hope I can find a place with a balcony or a place with access to a yard, when the time comes for me to move...

I am so looking forward to spring, too!
