So Much for Spring

Tuesday, May 04, 2010
Sigh. I should know better. The rule in Alberta is never plant anything (except maybe grass seed) until the Victoria Day long weekend. And yet, once again, I was seduced by the beautiful temperatures and all the sunshine Mother Nature sent our way in April. It's also probably karma - after quietly giggling to myself for the past week or so about all the snow our neighbours in Calgary had received, the Goddess of Green (ha!) has bitch-slapped us all. You see, yesterday, the view on the left was green. Beautifully, luxuriously green. The recent rains had the grass growing, the trees budding and flowers beginning to give us a hint of what is to come. Today? Just take a look. A good 8 hours of steady snowfall changed our city into a winter wonderland. If this was December, I'd be stoked. As it's now May 4, I'm pissed. Thank god my beans are inside. Sigh.

OMG, this is ridiculous. We had snow yesterday and today and it's freaking cold here! WTF?

Wow...it's been mostly pleasant in Ontario, although we could use more rain.

Every blog I visit today has snowy pictures! So sorry about the snow. Don't despair. The greenery will return.

I am getting pretty tired of this whole nonsense. This was no time to be returning home from Vancouver.

I know, I was tricked this year too. I cleaned and put away the winter coat, whipped out the hiking sandals, and put air in the bike tires. Mother Nature, you're really a crazy b**** sometimes.

In London it's so fucking cold in the mornings that everyone is still wearing winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves -but at least it doesn't snow...
