Work Update

Wednesday, June 09, 2010
Ok, so here's the deal-io. I went in to work on Monday, early as usual. As the elevator doors open and I'm about to get in, my coworker is coming out, going for her pre-work smoke. We exchanged cheery hellos and she said she'd be back in a few minutes. I dropped off some of the kitchen supplies I had picked up for the big boss man (coffee stuff) and then headed back to my old (now new) desk. She popped over and we chatted for a few minutes, letting her know how late they told me about her return on Friday. She laughed and I knew then that everything was going to be groovy. We began moving our stuff around before the boss man and his second even arrived at the office and also started discussing everything I needed to update her on. When the bosses arrived, we all had a chat about what was expected and much thanks for everything I had done. It was a good day - and I was soooooo happy that she was back.

Onto co-worker number 2, the one who has an almost identical job as mine, Earthquake Girl. She returned to the office today, still not 100%. She mentioned some sort of syndrome that she's been diagnosed with - starts with a T but I can't for the life of me remember what it is. Something to do with the muscles around her heart. She's still in a lot of pain and has to take medication every 16 hours; medication that means she can't drive and makes her extremely sleepy. Her doctor only wants her to work 1/2 days for the next 3 weeks, in order to allow her to recooperate. This was going to put a huge damper on my plans for taking time off that I desperately need before I go postal on any number of my fellow coworkers. However, the bosses took it upon themselves to find someone to cover for me and Earthquake Girl when we're both gone tomorrow afternoon and on Friday. While I'm glad that they did this, they didn't bother to check with either of us as to whom we thought would be the best choice. Yeah, wouldn't have been the person they chose.

Anyways, there you go. I have to go into work tomorrow because I'm emcee'ing a department-wide event all morning long and have to give a small speech but once lunch is over - relaxation time. You'll pardon me if I ignore the blogosphere for a couple of days - I might just unplug for the weekend and do a whole lotta nothing.

Excellent! Sounds like all went well!

I hope you have a really great weekend doing nothing! Those are the best weekends, IMO!

Glad to hear that all went well. Enjoy your time doing nothing (except maybe watching a little soccer).
