Blogger Question

Does anyone know if you block a particular individual from commenting on your blog? I've already enabled the word verification option on Voyages but I still get a "comment" on each and every post I write up from someone who links to Asian porn/chatrooms. Its very frustrating having to delete these comments all the time. And there's no point in enabling comment moderation because I'd still get the comments anyways and have to delete them from my email. Arrrrgh. Thanks in advance.

Hrm. No, not really. If you were running your own site, you could use an htaccess file, but otherwise, you'd have to set up comment moderation.

You could try taking off the Open ID option and see if that works, but I think you might be hooped on this one.

I think you are hooped, too. I get those comments on ReTorte on a daily basis, and all I could do was enable comment moderation. It's so freaking annoying!

WordPress does not have this problem, though. It's very good at filtering out spam comments and I have never had a problem.

Interestingly enough, I have had NO Asian spam comments on my heavy metal blog, which is on Blogger...Perhaps Asian pornographers just don't like heavy metal. Boo-hoo! (Watch this comment jinx my good luck, though!)

You could try bolting on something like Disqus, which has better filters. It'll mean tweaking your theme slightly, but it would allow you to leave your comments open.

I had the same issue so I had to get rid of the anonymous option. It stopped the Taiwanese spammer from leaving comments, but also my siblings.

WordPress has a spam blocker that works very well. It's blocked over 500 spam comments for me, and so I'm very happy with it, and in general with WordPress.

Sadly, the commenter is a registered Blogger user so even putting "registered users only" on the comment options is pointless. Sigh. I guess I'm screwed. Perhaps I'll contact the blogger folks and see what's up. Unfortunately, having deleted the previous comments with their hyperlinks won't help my case. Argh.

Thanks everyone!
