Mythbusting with the President

Monday, October 18, 2010
Seems that US President Barack Obama is going to be appearing on an upcoming episode of Mythbusters, in an effort to "highlight the importance of science, math and engineering" according to this article. You would never have seen George Bush doing something like that. Possibly because he couldn't spell engineering. At a time in which we're hearing a lot about the lack of focus on education, the quality of teachers, and the lack of affordable education for everyone, it's refreshing to see the President take on the topic.

We entrust teachers to educate and care for our children for a 13 or so years of their lives and yet we can't provide the resources that many of them require to do even an adequate job. How many of us know teachers who've used their own money to buy supplies? Teachers, who have one of the most important jobs out there, deserve to be paid more.

It would be lovely, wouldn't it, if our governments spent the same amount of energy and resources on education as they do the military. Sigh...in a perfect world.

I am definitely watching that episode. Do you think he'll blow something up?
