Like everyone else, I get cravings. Usually these are for things that are (a) salty, (b) starchy, or (c) both. Perfect example, potato chips. Mmmm, salty and starchy. Throw in an ice cold Coke and a bit of Philly Herb'n'Spice dip and ... oh god ... I need a moment. Mmmmmm. Sorry, had to take a minute to wipe the drool off of my chin.

Lately however I've been craving, prepare yourself, broccoli. In fact, its only 8:45 in the morning and I want a big plate of it right now.

No that's not a typo. I said broccoli. I had some last weekend and I gobbled it up like there's no tomorrow. Steamed with a bit of melted butter, mustartd and fresh black pepper. Fantabulicious.

I eat a lot of potatoes, carrots, peppers, onions, brussels sprouts, and cauliflower (a newer addition to my repitoire) but rarely eat broccoli. You see, I'm a fan of the stalks. The florets? Not so much. Oh sure, they're still yummy but I really like the crunch of the stalk.

So why have I been craving the broccoli so much? I could blame it on the massive amounts of this veggie that Janae eats and I'm constantly reading about on her blog. I'm guessing though that it is just one of those things. I'll get a craving for something and eat it for days straight. I do this with spaghetti. Chili. Stew/soup. Pizza. Sandwiches. And then, after I've eaten myself silly, I don't eat that food again for weeks. However, this didn't happen with the cauliflower. I'm hoping it doesn't happen with the broccoli. More broccoli means I'm getting more veggies. And cruciferous veggies are awesome for you.

So thank you Janae if this new obsession is all your fault. I'll blame you when my cats complain about how gassy I suddenly am.
